Mona Lisa #6
I'm starting to build up the delicate shading (sfumato) that Leonardo did so well. I started using Liquin Fine Detail for the glazes, and I'm finding the finish is too glossy for my tastes. It also makes it very diffiicult to take photos. Check the colour chart for the colours I put on as a glaze: A- flake white, yellow ochre and a touch of raw umber B- the same base, adding more yellow ochre and raw umber C- burnt sienna and raw umber These three glazes were laid on very thinly. A and B were applied over the background, and then worked very thinly over the face, neck area and hands. B- was laid thinly over the backdrop/landscape C- was laid in on the hair, and the shadows on the face and hands.
